HINT #1

​There is an old saying among professional electricians:

"Black & red are hot, white is neutral, and green is ground."

98% of all house wiring is done using these color codes. The hot is the power, the wire that carries the electricity to the device. The neutral completes the circuit. The ground is the "safety". If you keep this saying in mind, you should have little difficulty identifying which is which.
